Newport UKIP in turmoil as chairman tries to rid party of ‘EDL sympathisers’

newport

NEWPORT’S branch of UKIP appeared in turmoil at the weekend as their chairman appealed for help to “rid this branch of EDL sympathisers”.

Mike Chaffin posted on the branch’s Facebook page: “Not in my name, not in my party and not in my town!”

He pointed readers to comments made by the Newport East parliamentary candidate Donald Grewar on the EDL Facebook page and BNP website.

Mr Grewar responded to an EDL post warning of ‘no surrender to militant Islam or political correctness’ with the comment: “Thus sais it all… the mood of the nation… well done EDL” [sic].

And he said in response to an article on the BNP website about gay marriage: “Well said Richtofen…. sadly this will all come to fruition in the very near future. We need to resist and stand our ground.”

Mr Chaffin asked party members: “Do you consider someone who both praises the English Defence League and posts on the British National Party’s own website to be a suitable candidate?”

He revealed he had been asked to stand down as Chairman and allow two others to take over the branch.

A rival Newport UKIP Facebook page appeared to have been set up this month, with minutes from a meeting on January 23.

In a post to the new page, Andy Byers claimed Mike Chaffin “will be resigning as Chairman of the Newport Branch”.

He said the committee had nominated James Peterson to stand as temporary Chairman until an AGM on February 23.

But after this had been posted, Mr Chaffin continued to refer to himself as chairman on the initial Facebook page.

Mr Chaffin also proposed an annual general meeting to deal with the issues.

He said that people “who even flirt” with these parties “should be banished and those who help or collude with them named,” he added.

He called for such party members “to take their views to a party more closely aligned with their morals.”

His post ended: “If we tolerate this then what will be next?

Andrew Byers, named by Mr Chaffin in his post, said he was “surprised” by the allegations which he said were “completely without foundation”. He added it was impossible to be a member of both Ukip and one of the other parties mentioned.

He said: “So it’s a no comment at the moment. He appears to have an issue…he’s obviously quite disgruntled.”

A spokesman for Hope Not Hate said this was proof the party was run by “amateurs”.

Simon Cressy said: “There are extreme elements within UKIP, as can be demonstrated by some of the comments.

“He’s coming out saying he supports the EDL – he’s not the right candidate to represent the good people of Newport East.

“We would call on UKIP to remove Donald Grewar and any other person that has made extremist comments.”

Donald Grewar has been approached for comment.

A UKIP spokesman said: “UKIP takes all complaints and concerns seriously and fully investigates all issues brought to our attention. Party members living in Newport recently raised some concerns with the party through our internal procedures and the party acted swiftly in ordering an investigation into these matters. When the full facts become known we will release a full statement on our website.”

Would-be Welsh Ukip MP faces discipline over anti-Islamic leaflet

A Ukip parliamentary candidate who distributed a leaflet condemning diversity and the notion of a multicultural society is to be disciplined by the party.

But Martyn Ford has not been suspended as the candidate for Swansea West and his case is unlikely to be considered before late next month.

The leaflet states: “Islamic terror. Abuse of our children. The consequence of multiculturalism.” It goes on to quote critical remarks made by Mr Ford about Muslims, immigration and the “political elite”.

A Ukip spokesman said: “This flyer was submitted for approval by the party, but it was deemed inappropriate. It was distributed nonetheless. We will be taking the appropriate action.”

It is understood that Mr Ford will be reported to Ukip’s national executive under the party’s disciplinary process, but that is not likely to be until late November.

Anti-racism campaigner, former Cabinet member and Labour MP for Neath Peter Hain, said: “Condemning diversity and attacking multiculturalism shows just how dangerously out of touch Ukip are with modern Wales.

“The language used on Martyn Ford’s official Ukip leaflet is completely unacceptable. Rather than reasoned policies Ukip have opted for poisonous rhetoric aimed at immigrants.

“The content of Mr Ford’s leaflet would not look out of place on something produced by the BNP or National Front.

“That Ukip have refused to suspend Mr Ford for this offensive and inflammatory propaganda is truly shocking.

“It is clear that despite their attempts at spin, Ukip are a dangerous right-wing party that feeds on hatred and have nothing positive to offer the people and communities of Swansea or Wales.”

Swansea West Labour MP Geraint Davies, said: “This leaflet has caused enormous concerns and distress among our local communities – no one in Swansea wants the politics of division and hatred that this leaflet represents.“I have been approached by a large number of local residents who have been appalled and shocked by what they see as an expression of racism and prejudice by Ukip in Swansea.

“The people of Swansea expect parliamentary candidates to respect everyone in the community irrespective of their political views and represent all people in our community.”

Godfrey Bloom and The Far Right Extremists

Godfrey Bloom

Godfrey Bloom

Of all the people involved with UKIP, one person has constantly been at the front of the queue when it comes to scandal and controversy.

Godfrey Bloom, The Ex UKIP MEP became a household name after stories such as “Bongo Bongo Land” and “The Sluts Row” hit national headlines.

Some of the more gullible UKIP members would label Bloom as ” A loveable rogue”. It’s not a term I would use.

Now that Bloom is no longer on the UKIP gravy time, he has to find activities to fill his diary and it looks like he has found a suitable one for the middle of October.

Godfrey Bloom is to be a guest speaker at a Traditional Britain Group conference held in London on October 18th. The fact Bloom is speaking at the event is controversial enough, however Bloom will be sharing a platform with a collection of far right politicians.

Whilst Bloom name does not appear on the original TBG flyer, their website and Facebook page confirm Bloom is a late addition to the roster.

The Traditional Britain Group is a tiny right wing campaign group that has some links to the Ultra right wing of the Conservative Party.

The man who stands at the helm of the TBG is the controversial Gregory Lauder Frost.

Lauder-Frost is a former BNP member and was previously a member of the Conservative Party’s Monday Club as well as the Western Goals Institute. He believes that the UK was wrong when it declared war on Nazi Germany in 1939 because the Nazis had no quarrel with our country.

Gregory Lauder-Frost

He also believes that the Nuremburg trials where a “farce… without an ounce of legitimacy” and defended the Luftwaffe’s bombardment of Coventry, saying: “Britain had all its small arms and tanks manufactured at Coventry. If you did not want to be bombed you should not have declared war on a country who had no quarrel with you.”

Lauder-Frost was jailed for two years in 1992 for embezzling money from his employers, the Riverside health authority. The court heard he had channelled money into extreme right-wing political causes. It also emerged at the end of the trial that he was implicated in attempts to sell Russian arms to US based far right groups.

The Traditional Britain Group was criticized for overt and disgusting racism after they called for the Labour peer Doreen Lawrence and millions of ethnic-minority Britons to “return to their natural homelands”. Lauder-Frost said of Doreen Lawrence “: “We do not feel there is any merit in raising such a person to the peerage. She’s a complete nobody. She’s just a campaigner about her son’s murder. It’s ridiculous. She has made countless anti-English comments over the last 10 years. She’s no friend of the English people.”

He continued “This woman has done the British nation no favours whatsoever. If these people don’t like us and want to keep attacking us they should go back to their natural homelands.”

Sharing a platform alongside Bloom and Lauder-Frost is the former Croatian diplomat Dr Tomislav Sunic, who has regularly addressed racist gatherings in America and Europe.

In August 2003, Sunic gave a lecture alongside the far-rightist ex-lawyer Horst Mahler, currently serving a prison sentence in Germany for Holocaust denial, at a conference sponsored by Germany’s nationalist far-right party, the National Democratic Party.

Sunic With Former KKK Leader David Duke

Sunic spoke at the BNP conference in 2013 and has also addressed several meetings of the National Front including its 45th Anniversary meeting in 2012 and a meeting in Bradford in 2009.

The Croat sits on the board of the American white nationalist political party American Freedom Party (AFP) and is the author of the vile anti-Semitic book, Homo Americanus.

Also listed to speak is a name familiar to Hope not hate readers, Paul Weston, chairman of the miniscule Liberty GB party.

Weston was previously better known as the chairman of the now defunct British Freedom Party, the political wing of the thuggish English Defence League.

Paul Weston is a regular blogger for the “counter-jihadist” anti-Islamic website Gates of Vienna. Norwegian mass-murderer Anders Behring Breivik took inspiration from the website and Weston’s articles claiming that there is a “civil war” brewing in Europe with Islam. When questioned in 2012 Weston admitted that the articles may well have inspired Breivik.

The far right barrister Adrian Davies has spoken at TBG gatherings before and will be again later this month, indeed he spoke at their re-launch meeting in 2010, alongside controversial racist lecturer Dr Frank Ellis.

Davies unsuccessfully represented the Holocaust denier David Irving at the Court of Appeal in 2001 after Irving had failed in a libel action against Deborah Lipstadt and Penguin Books.

Previously chairman of the now-defunct far right Freedom Party, Davies is also linked to the BNP and is a regular speaker at meetings of the far right “New Right”. He was one of the founders of the far right farce that was The British Democratic Party.

Godfrey Bloom is still very much a member of UKIP and is very popular in the party, particularly in his old European region of Yorkshire & Humber where he very close to newly elected MEP’s Jane Collins & Mike Hookem. In fact there are a large number of UKIP members in the region who would like to see him back in the forefront of the xenophobic party.

Only time will tell.

Qui Cum Canibus Concumbunt Cum Pulicibus Surgent.

Reckless With Claudia Bryan/Dalgleish

Reckless With Claudia Bryan/Dalgleish

No doubt a lot of the readers of this blog will be perplexed by the Latin title of this blog.

Qui Cum Canibus Concumbunt Cum Pulicibus Surgent is widely attributed to Benjamin Franklin’s “Poor Richard’s Almanack” a yearly best selling journal published by the noted American statesman.

Translated into English “He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas” meaning “You should be cautious of the company you keep. Associating with those of low reputation may not only lower your own but also lead you astray by the faulty assumptions, premises and data of the unscrupulous.”

Franklin’s statement can be applied to Mark Reckless MP who announced at UKIP’s party conference in Doncaster yesterday that he was defecting from The Conservative Party to UKIP, resigning his seat and forcing a by election in his Rochester constituency.

By joining the xenophobes of UKIP, Reckless has displayed he has poor judgement with the company he keeps, however, this wouldn’t be the first time.

Reckless has been seen keeping the company of South African adult model Claudia Bryan aka Dalgleish on a number of occasions. This is the same Claudia Bryan who was once one of Nick Griffin’s close confidantes and was also the partner of London BNP Organiser, pornographer and supplier of date-rape drugs, Steve Squire.

The South African model hit the headlines in 2012 when she claimed that BNP leader Nick Griffin exposed himself to her in a car park of a Kent Indian restaurant.

Bryan/Dalgleish is also known for the occasional spot of anti Semitism as well.

Welcome to UKIP Mark Reckless, I’m sure your fleas will be very welcome.

Nigel Farage accused of exploiting child abuse issue for political gain

The father of the main prosecution witness in Britain’s biggest child sex grooming scandal has accused Nigel Farage of exploiting the issue for political gain as the UK Independence party attempts to unseat Labour in a Manchester byelection.

The man, known as Tom, whose daughter’s testimony led to the prosecution of nine Asian men and an overhaul of Crown Prosecution Service rules, said that the anti-federalist party had resorted to British National party-style tactics while campaigning to win Heywood and Middleton in Greater Manchester.

The town of Heywood, where Tom lives, was at the centre of the Rochdale scandal, after a sex-trafficking gang of men of mainly Pakistani origin were found to have preyed on at least 47 girls, all of whom were white.

Statements issued by Farage and leaflets distributed by his party have blamed Labour’s “love affair” with “immigration, political correctness and multiculturalism” for the betrayal of “white working-class girls”.

The byelection, due to be held on 9 October, was triggered when the veteran Labour MP Jim Dobbin died this month. Labour figures are concerned that Ukip could overturn the party’s 5,500 majority.

Tom said Farage should stop adding to the distress of local families. “I find it abhorrent that Ukip are trying to make political gains from this and use it as a tool. It is not what my family wants.

“Ukip have rarely mentioned child abuse before they came here. It is obvious why they are mentioning it now. It’s for the game.”

Farage visited the constituency this month and told the media: “Just look at the local grooming scandal. This is a prime example of the local authority failing to protect vulnerable residents because the people in power were more afraid of being seen as racist.”

Two leaflets distributed by the party in the campaign have highlighted the grooming scandal as evidence of Labour’s “betrayal of the working classes because of political correctness”.

Tom was moved to speak to the Guardian about Ukip’s tactics after receiving the leaflets through this door. To heap blame on “political correctness” did not fully explain the many reasons why the abuse was allowed to continue, he said. “Its a complex issue about the police, the Crown Prosecution Service and social services, all turning a blind eye. It’s not all about political correctness, although it was a factor.”

Tom moved to an estate in Heywood during the credit crunch.

He first noticed that his eldest daughter, when she was 14, was becoming difficult and unruly. Over a matter of weeks, her behaviour declined as she began to swear and occasionally came home drunk.

In August of that year, Tom and his wife were told by police that their daughter had damaged a restaurant.

While being interviewed, she told detectives how she had been plied with drugs and drink and repeatedly raped by men of Pakistani origin.

She told the detectives that the perpetrators worked in the takeaway trade or as taxi drivers. The gang offered gifts to girls, won their trust and then forced them to have sex.

Some victims were driven between Rochdale, Oldham, Bradford and elsewhere to have sex with men for money.

The Crown Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute in 2009 despite DNA evidence linking the 56-year-old owner of a local kebab shop to the rape of Tom’s daughter. Prosecutors said at the time they doubted whether the girl would be a credible witness.

Distressed by the CPS’s decision, Tom felt drawn to the British National party. He was convinced that they could offer a valid explanation for his daughter’s abuse – that Pakistani men had been allowed to get away with this because of political correctness. However, he soon found he could no longer stomach their hatred of people based on race.

He said: “My mother suffered from Alzheimers but every time she went wandering off, it was Pakistani people who brought her home. You don’t forget that.”

The language that Tom heard used by the BNP was now being used by Farage, he said. “They are the same tactics. Farage doesn’t blame the race of people, he gives national attributes, he thinks that is okay. But there is a fine line.”

At the last election Ukip won just 1,200 votes in Heywood and Middleton, while the BNP received 3,000. With the collapse of the BNP as a party, Ukip can now expect to get most of the combined vote.

The Conservatives’ vote in 2010 was 27.2% of the electorate. Neither Labour nor Ukip expect the Tories to run a strong campaign, which could leave the way for a Ukip surge.

The party’s distinctive purple colour adorns its campaign headquarters on Heywood’s main street, a quarter of a mile from the kebab shop where Tom’s daughter was abused, and a mile from Tom’s home.

Ukip’s candidate, John Bickley, a businessman with historic connections to the area, acknowledged that the issue of grooming was an issue that regularly came up on the doorstep as he canvassed support for the party.

“It is an issue, but immigration and the fact that we are not part of the Westminster establishment are also big here,” he said, whilst pushing leaflets through the doors of houses.

A Survation poll commissioned by Ukip across the constituency has shown that immigration is the top political concern, their activists have claimed.

Labour insiders have grown increasingly concerned by the response they receive on the doorstep. Their candidate, Liz McInnes, a Unite member and NHS biochemist, is fighting her first byelection.

If Ukip’s tactics are successful, there are other seats linked to grooming in Rochdale, Derby, Manchester and Oxford, which would be seen vulnerable.

Toby Perkins, the MP for Chesterfield who successfully fought off a Ukip challenge from Bickley in a byelection in Wythenshawe this year, has taken charge of the campaign.

Simon Danczuk, the Labour MP for Rochdale who has campaigned for greater transparency around child sex abuse, has been drafted in to help.

“Ukip are a genuine threat and people across the party are working hard to fight them street by street,” said Danczuk.

Following pressure on the CPS at the dropped prosecution, Tom’s daughter gave evidence against the gang in 2012 as witness A. Her testimony led to nine men being jailed for up to 21 years each for charges relating to grooming and the abuse of children. About a dozen more grooming cases involving gangs across the UK are under investigation.

Tom said that he continued to wrestle with the truth of his daughter’s abuse and the knowledge that other abusers had not been caught. “It is hard to go into town and not know if the bloke standing in front of you in a queue has raped your daughter,” he said.

His eldest daughter has moved away to study at university, and they talk everyday. He is glad she is not in Heywood to witness the current Ukip campaign.

“She has hope. We are not giving up,” he said.

Tom’s name has been changed to protect his daughter’s identity

BNP Football Hooligan At UKIP Rally

Jason Douglas

Jason Douglas

Last night UKIP leader Nigel Farage was telling everyone who cared to listen that his party wasn’t a racist political party.

He attempted to back up his mealy-mouthed explanation by surrounding himself with a selection of his black and ethnic-minority election candidates.

The problem is, whilst not everyone involved with UKIP could be labelled as racist, you don’t have to look very far to find racism in the presence of Farage’s purple party.

Just last night a very familiar face was spotted entering the London UKIP meeting. Jason Douglas, the former Redbridge BNP organiser & London Assembly candidate was seen happily chatting with the various UKIP members as he entered the central London venue.

Douglas has a history of racism and violence at football matches that saw him banned from attending Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road ground following a violent incident at a match against Southend. This was to turn into a lifetime ban after he was again photographed on the pitch, this time attacking Oxford United supporters.

Plymouth UKIP Candidate Links Prince To Paedophilia

Nigel Farage, leader of UKIP reported over the weekend that his party had a number of idiots within its ranks.

The Sunday Times reported yesterday on a story that we shared with them regarding yet another one of Farage’s “Idiots” Plymouth UKIP candidate Derek Wagstaff,

Wagstaff, an ex police office originally from Rotherham is standing for UKIP in the Stoke Ward on Plymouth City Council.

When Hope not hate checked his Facebook profile we found Wagstaff was a member of a large number of online extreme right wing groups including The English Volunteer Force, a violent splinter on The English Defence League and also Britain First, a rival political party who are actually standing candidates against UKIP in some areas and was formed as a breakaway group fom the BNP.

Wagstaff is not a dormant member of these groups regularly sharing racist postings made by these groups on his own personal Facebook profile.

wag

The Plymouth man is also a member of The Anti Islamic World Wide Movement, Parents against Islamic Studies and Indoctrination in our British Schools and Islam Exposed (the truth about Islam) Facebook pages.

These kind of stories regarding UKIP members and racism have become par for the course and we would be fairly certain that there are plenty more out there on the various social networks.

However, our last discovery was a truly disturbing find and not one we had seen before.

Derek Wagstaff posted an article by a conspiracy theorist linking the Prince of Wales to allegations of paedophilia adding the comment: “Unbelievable what our future king has been up to.”

The bizarre, defamatory essay refers to Charles’s friendship with Jimmy Savile, the disgraced DJ, and the prince’s “potential for sharing a penchant for unnatural relationships with children”.

Wagstaff's Paedophile Allegation

Wagstaff’s Paedophile Allegation

A UKIP official has told The Sunday Times that Wagstaff would be added to the list of members subject to disciplinary action.

So when Farage says UKIP is full of idiots who are we to argue ?
